DigiDIY is a smart home and DIY electronics review site run by Alex Reed, a tech tinkerer based in Austin, TX. For over a decade, Alex has been setting up smart home systems, testing WiFi gear, and building DIY projects — from Raspberry Pi dashboards to whole-home mesh networks.
This site exists because most tech review sites hedge everything. They say products are “a great choice” and “worth considering” and never tell you what to actually buy. We do. Every review ends with a clear verdict: BUY, SKIP, or ONLY IF.
What We Cover
- WiFi & Networking — routers, mesh systems, extenders, what actually works in a 2000sqft house
- Smart Home — Home Assistant, Zigbee, Z-Wave, Matter-compatible devices
- DIY Electronics — Raspberry Pi, Arduino, soldering, beginner builds
- Portable Power — power stations for camping, off-grid, and backup power
- Home Security — cameras, smart locks, doorbell cams
How We Review
Alex buys or borrows the products, sets them up in a real home, and uses them for at least a week before writing a word. No press releases, no brand partnerships. If something sucks, we say so.
DigiDIY participates in the Amazon Associates Program, which means we earn a small commission when you buy through our links, at no extra cost to you. This keeps the site running without paywalls or sponsored content.
